Oh what the hell….I might as well get the ball rolling: He should be stripped necked, covered from head to toe in honey, and tied down to the ground in the middle of an army ant farm….
Now, it’s your turn…..and please don’t hold back…..

South Paw Beagle’s Decision Points on “Decision Points”
Point # 1: I hate George W. Bush’s guts
Point # 2: He’s a stone cold liar and coward
Point # 3: Look up “chickenhawk” (or “coward”, “ratfuck”, “dickwad”, “christianpussy”, or “cockless”) in the dictionary and you’ll find a picture of Bush
Point # 4: He’s the most divisive President since Ulysses S. Grant
Point # 5: He wanted to end the remaining lifeline for millions of Americans: Social Security
Point # 6: By any objective definition, he is a war criminal
Point # 7: The only contribution he made to his fucked-up, pack of lies book is he stood still long enough for someone to take a snap shot of his ugly, peckerwood ass and slap it on the front in all of its frat-boy ugliness
Point # 8: He’s the quintessential example of “Texas mean”: which, by definition, is a phony cowboy, cocksucker who is arrogant and wealthy and likes to talk with a phony drawl and loves anything and everything that is cruel…to include inflicting as much death and pain on as many people as possible
Point # 9: Despite his so-called religiousity, this drunken savage is one of the cruelest men to have served in government in U.S. history
Point # 10: This Texas piece of shit, scoundrel has used patriotism, religion, and freedom as refuges better than any scoundrel before him; Whatever remained genuine about patriotism, religion, and freedom has been trampled upon and stripped of its remaining meaning by George W. Bush
Point #11: I’d rather have my nuts run through a coffee grinder than spend one fucking cent on his “book.” If I were to ever touch it, I would feel compelled to wash the stench off of my hands for a week
Point # 12: Did I mention I hate George W. Bush’s guts?”
I welcome your thoughts……..

….coming soon to SPB: “The Hate Page”…..an opportunity for you to express yourself with all the visceral hate that you’ve grown to love over all these years.
As Gandhi once said (to someone): “Hate sets you free”
….or as Tim Robbins said to Morgan Freeman in “The Shawshank Redemption”: “Hate is a good thing….and sometimes the ONLY thing”.

All of you who are reading this are great. You’re just great. Why? Because you care….because you give a shit….because you are passionate in your beliefs –enough to log onto a blog like HP or this one and express how you feel about the U.S. and all of its issues, good and bad. You are thoughtful. You are wise. You are kind and compassionate. You are informed. You are interesting. You are compelling. You are love. For every one of you, there are a hundred others who don’t care about the things that make you so virtuous and special. They, instead, tape teabags to their heads and prance around in Paul Revere outfits affecting phony angst and anger over the first attempt in generations to begin correcting a broken health care system that’s only going to get worse if nothing is done in terms of a long-term fix; screaming, without rationale, about being over-taxed, too much spending by the federal government….a necessary and emergent response to eight years of previous war and tax cuts for the rich that got us to our economic Armageddon, about their freedoms being taken away without a single shred of evidence to substantiate such claims….all to disguise the one issue that has eaten the whiteness of this country alive since January 21 ’09…..no, make that since November 4, 2008: having a black man as President. Being the overly medicated, overly personality-disordered, overly religious, and overly disingenuous country that we are, we simply cannot, collectively, get past that trauma anymore than we can move on past the never-ending, self-inflicted trauma of 9-11.
We are not a country that wants to move on. We want to stay locked in immobile dead center traumatized by the past with no solutions for the future. We said we were ready to “move on” in November, 2008 loud and clear in the voting booth. And that energy lasted less than a year with the candle of hope being snuffed out entirely today, November 2, 2010. We were no more ready to move on (by that vote of change in November 2008) than we are ready to stop believing in god (God)…and we’re sure as fuck not ready to stop doing that. For, if were were sincerely ready to “move on,” we would give this President…or any President, more than two years, at the very least, to build a coalition of the willing who are ready to put country ahead of self-interests (if such a thing exists anymore) in order to begin the reparations of the disaster of a mismanaged country…a disaster so vast I don’t believe most of us can even begin to conceptualize the damage done.
After all that we have gone through to put us on the brink of being hopelessly broken, a beacon of light managed to shine through the darkness nearly two years ago that gave us hope. Yet here we are on the cusp of regressing…..falling backwards into the abyss of which we have so deeply embedded ourselves Why? Because a black man was thrown a bone with a message tied to it that said “here you go….it’s all yours and you’re being given a shot only because the two people you’re running against are so fucked up that we’re going to give you a shot at the risk of the old guy dying or losing his marbles and the whacked out chick he has as his running mate actually getting us all killed. But remember….your leash will be shorter than Jackie Robinson with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. You’re are being WATCHED. And don’t say we didn’t warn you. We tried to tell you that America is not ready for a black President. But you kept pushing. So, we’re going to give you a fraction of the time to fix what was already broken and whatever you do we’re going to scream hysterically every hour, every minute you are in office just to show you that you never deserved this anyway…and despite our vote in November 2008, we weren’t really ready to move on….not then, not now, not ever.”
Which brings me back to you…my friends and my comrades: No matter how many steps back this country takes after these mid-term elections….no matter how much these fringe groups, that never saw the light of day during the Bush and Reagan eras, continue to proliferate calling themselves euphemisms such as tea party patriots when in all of their ugliness what they really are is a 21st century version of the Ku Klux Klan only with different costumes, no matter how much our nation’s schools, health care system, environment, culture, and infrastructure continue to crumble, just remember: you are on the right side and you and your wisdom shall always prevail…even if you are in the minority. You should never lose sight of that.
Many years ago my oldest brother, whom I regard as one of the smartest people in any room, and I were having a discussion about the nature of intelligence and I made the remark that columnist George Will always sounded so intelligent in his writings. My brother replied, “You can sound like the most intelligent person on earth….but it doesn’t make you right.”
My message to all of you is this: As long as you remain passionate and wise about your beliefs in what is good and just, you will always be right…no matter what happens to our country. And that should count for something.

…or, did it ever HAVE mojo to begin with. I guess this would depend on whether you, like me, think the life blood of HP (and, no, I’m not talking about Hewlett-Packard) are those who log on each day and contribute with comments. You see, I believe the vibrancy (for lack of a better word) of HP depends on the quality of the millions of contributions to its threads. And I also believe that what vitality HP once had began slowly dying on the vine when, via censorship, “banning,” and insufferable “comment pending” mechanisms, HP began to repress free expression. HP has become quite conventional which is a shame because I imagine “unconventional” was always its goal (as it should be everyone’s goal). HP has an identity crisis: are we irreverent or are we a conventional news blog? Do we want to maintain high journalistic standards or are we simply out to generate as many hits as possible from our users in an effort to keep up with the “The Daily Beast”?
Whatever. But from a personal standpoint, I don’t think HP wants humor or irreverence on its blog. I think, at one time, HP tolerated it…but no longer. Now HP sees originality as a distraction from the primary goal of signing up more users: quantity over quality. I believe HP has long repressed and censored unconventional expression. But only recently (within the last year) has HP taken a bend to the right. Worse, they now present themselves, with all the Community Pundit and badges and other H.S. popularity contest stuff, as a blog that is essentially just that…a contest…or a survival of the most prosaic. Which is too bad because, again, unpopular expression is what we need now more than ever in the nation’s mainstream…not just on the fringe (reference Stephen Colbert’s wonderful appearance recently before the House of Representatives causing fuckheads like Steney Hoyer to nearly have a cow). It’s our freedom to express ourselves disrespectfully, and sometimes profanely, that keeps the dialog fresh…and enlightening.
And then there’s the Hume factor to consider. Ever since Hume Skeptic died this past summer there has been a void that has yet to be filled. With Hume around, even when he wasn’t commenting, we always knew that there was a certain amount of well-grounded and intellectual legitimacy to the daily dialogue. Not to mention that Hume practically defined “biting intellectualism” on HP. This gravitas has been sorely missing since his demise.
But enough of my opinion. I’m more interested in what you, my friends, have to say on this subject. So fire away:
