  2. Thank you guys for a great year of fun!! It’s comforting to know there are people out there that share the same hatred for the same stinky, ugly, wretched, obscene excuses for people that I do, and I hope this next year brings them nothing but misery….LOL…

I wish only peace and good health for you all….
    Southpaw…Feliz Ano Nuevo amigo…:)!!

  3. Lefty and KJ, and all the good dudes here & there – may the Blue Birds of Happiness shine on you in 2011.

Speaking of Blue Birds… here’s the original Boogie Man, John Lee Hooker to help you ring in the new year with “One Bourbon, One Scotch And One Beer”

I’m battling the flu as we speak… but I’ll celebrate with c’hall! Peace!!

  4. Buckingham Palace announces the birth of The Queen’s first Great-Grandchild

Twattered from Wasilla: “This tradition of a child being born two years after a wedding is nothing but elitism and the old rules of the establishment. Greatgrandchildren should only be born to unmarried minors who are not ready to be parents.” “The mother isn’t even qualified to be on Dancing With The Stars.”

  5. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all its going to be a tea bag year ,should bring both tears and laughter from the 112 congress . Its beginning to feel like a third world country right here in the USA. FUCK all republicans and their t bag cronies.

  6. Happy New Year to all!

  7. Many moons ago, I decided never to wish anyone a Happy New Year!! It occurred to me that to say such a thing is stressful indeed. No one should expect to be HAPPY an entire year … 365 days of life!! Instead, I began and continue to wish ALL as many HAPPY days of any given year as they can possibly collect!! Please note that many folks may become quite stressed out if perhaps they experience a SAD week … 7 days, therefrom, believe that there could be something WRONG with THEM!! Soooo, I try to think of ALL … enjoy your ups and process your downs … let life be life, allow infusions of renewal, enjoy all tender touches and be blessed.

    • Wise words, gladys. My favorite Christmas book, written by Thackeray at Christmas-time, is “The Rose and the Ring.” The book opens with a christening of a princess with fairies in attendance. One of the fairies notes that all of the good wishes bestowed on princesses in the past resulted in a bunch of stuck-up, spoiled human beings. So she does the unthinkable. She wishes that the baby princess will grow up “with a little misfortune.” The little misfortune turns out, in my opinion, to be a huge misfortune as she is orphaned. But the princess grows up to be a wonderful person. The plot and the writing is very funny which is why it is my favorite Christmas story. It can be downloaded for free from the internet http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/897

I am something of a perfectionist. I have to give conscious preference to the happy messiness of life over predictability and perfection–which we all know is unobtainable. So “Happy New Year” is just right for me. I grab for happiness wherever I can find it, just like a New Year celebrant. If I did not, my life would be such a waste!

    • Happy New Year Gladys…..all 365 days of it :)

    • gladys, I accept all these greetings as friendly, not hostile; if a Christian wishes me a merry Christmas I accept it as ‘season’s greetings.’ I live in a heavily Jewish neighborhood and many think I’m Christian because they feel uncomfortable that I could be one of them. I happen to be an atheist with strong zen principles, which doesn’t answer the question, and I think it’s hilarious!!! Happy New Year!

  8. My wish for you is the same for the whole world–peace and joy in 2011!

  9. Peace on earth to people of good will! (The other people can fade away…)

  10. Just want to wish everyone here a very Happy New Year!

I hope that 2011 brings you all peace, love, laughter, health and happiness :-)

  11. Happy New Year to all of the Beagles and Beaglettes at SouthPaw~

The new year is going to bring us some exciting new miscreants to the 212th Hoedown in DC – may we all survive….

I am officially taking bets (using kernels of popping corn, preferably the old-skool type, no microwave for me) on how long BEFORE
Boner the OrangeMan is REMOVED as Speaker?

My guess is that if there are not at LEAST TWO MILLION REAL JOBS that pay actual wages above the $10.00/hour for professionals with college degrees and decades of experience – that ole John will go off on a nasty drunken binge and BE FORCIBLY REMOVED from the House floor.

As for as the Senate – my best hope is that several of them SIMPLY DROP DEAD of old age, and you know who they are…..

    Happy Snark for 2011!

    Eykis

    • Happy New Year to you my friend….and peace in 2011

    • Happy New Year to you too, Eykis.

Have you read Grisham’s book, “Confession”? I understand it sure does a job on Texas judicial system. And Texas deserves it. One quick story…. In Dallas about 30 years ago, the assistant DA’s in the county prosecutors’ office had a contest to see which prosecutor could get the most onerous sentence for the most trivial crime. The winner one year was a prosecutor who got a six-month sentence for a man who took one pack of cigarettes. The circumstances of the man’s life contributed to the award of the prize. The man devoted his life to entertaining sick children at the county hospital. This is a story that as far as I know has never been publicized but it is true and I would doubt anything has changed.

      • KJ,

I am placing an Amazon book order manana – will certainly pick up the new Grisham – I know which group of ADAs that was – certainly a mess as is the Texas Judicial System – Dallas County has been corrupt my entire life – beginning with Henry Wade, the DA of Big D for 38 years – he used to send boyz to Viet Nam for one joint – they had a choice of 30 years in Huntsville or a one-way ticket to Nam. Sad but true. He is also the Wade of the Roe v. Wade lawsuit. His son is a big time judge in the county – I hear he is a lot different than his Dad – sure glad I am not having to deal with the Texas system – Tennessee system is better – at least they don’t execute “three a week” here – matter of fact – I get cell phone calls from death row all the time — most of them are tortured souls who were brain-damaged or drug-addled during their crimes and will never get out – but they are more benevolent here than in Texas.

  12. Hippie New Year!

  13. We were going to do New Year’s brunch with corned beef hash for a bunch of hockey parents, but now they moved the Winter Classic from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., so now we are hoping the stores are still open so we can do fixins for chicken fajitas!

  14. It’s getting closer….!

  15. Happy New Year, you lovely peeps, you!!

I’m working tomorrow and will be getting up at 3:30 AM, so I doubt I’ll be watching the ball drop in sunny (and frickin freezing) CA. Heh, the sun rarely shines here at midnight, contrary to popular folklore.

I am so grateful for you, Southpaw Beagle and kj, and for this place!

    May 2011 bring us peace!

  16. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
